Solution Leverages Sun's Open Networks Systems with MySQL(TM) Database; Infobright and Pentaho to Deliver Scalable, Low-Cost Business Intelligence Infrastructure
Toronto, Ontario and Orlando, Florida - June 24, 2009 -Infobright, the open source data warehousing company, and Pentaho Corporation, the commercial open source alternative for business intelligence (BI), have joined forces with Sun Microsystems to deliver a hardware and software solution that lowers the cost of entry and simplifies deployment of a powerful, sophisticated BI infrastructure.
The solution consists of:
• Either the Sun Fire X4275 storage server or Sun Storage 7310 Unified Storage System, which along with Sun's Open Network Systems delivers a modular and robust platform to run Internet applications with breakaway speed, simplicity and savings.
• Pentaho BI Suite Enterprise Edition, which addresses the full spectrum of end-user BI needs for interactive reporting, analysis and dashboards, along with robust data integration capabilities.
• Infobright's column-oriented analytic database, which is integrated with Sun's MySQL(TM) and provides a low cost, self-managing and scalable database designed for BI.
The combination of these products provides enterprises with a validated, end-to-end solution for BI that is fast, easy to implement and manage at low cost. It is ideally suited for integrating online and offline data such as web analytics and customer information, to provide critical information needed to drive better business decisions. "This solution will enable rapid deployment of applications such as new web services with greater business effectiveness and efficiency, allowing customers to expand existing analytics services, or deploy a new one," said Graham Lovell, senior director of Open Storage, Sun Microsystems. "Customers can also expect to see cost savings of up to 75 - 90 percent when compared to alternative market offerings, due to the use of commercial open source products from Pentaho and Infobright, and the significant cost gains made possible by Sun's Open Storage products."
