Bango selected Infobright’s high performance analytic database to meet the challenge of managing the explosive data growth from mobile advertising and to support its rapidly growing business. Using Infobright Enterprise Edition (IEE), Bango can support the real-time analytic needs of their largest customers, enabling them to achieve much faster query performance against larger volumes of data than it could using their existing SQL Server database.
Challenge
More than 50 million unique mobile subscribers from all over the world are identified by the Bango system, and as the company’s business has grown, so has the massive volume of data that needs to be stored, loaded and made available to its customers for analysis. With tens of millions of records coming in every day, query performance was a growing concern because Bango’s SQL Server-based database could not provide the performance needed at higher data volumes. When Bango signed one of its largest customers to date—a well-known global media provider with analysis requirements that encompass more than 150 million rows and 450 Gigabytes of mobile data each month—the company knew that it needed a solution that could help it quickly and cost effectively scale its business while delivering the performance that customers with large data volumes demand.

Solution
Infobright’s analytic database delivers fast query performance against large volumes of data with minimal IT effort, and at the lowest cost. Bango was able to deploy IEE in just a few weeks, with minimal development and administrative effort. Bango also gained tremendous performance and data compression benefits: Query Performance: An ad-hoc report that included 5 million events ran in 11 minutes in SQL Server, but only 10 seconds with Infobright. Even more remarkable, a report with 15 million events that ran in 43 minutes in SQL Server took only 23 seconds with Infobright. Data Compression: Data that required 450GB of storage using SQL Server required only 10GB with Infobright, due to Infobright’s massive compression and the elimination of all indexes.
